The Sea, rated G

I apologize, guys, I'm going to spam a bit. It's Friday night anyway, so I'm sure it's quiet around here, lol. But I need to repost some fics I've posted in communities!

Author: Claudia
Title: The Sea
Prompt: Firsts
Characters: Frodo, Sam
Rating: G

Since the quest, Sam had often caught that serene, otherworldly light in Frodo's eyes, a gaze in which he saw through Sam to a beyond that Sam could not yet perceive. Sam was losing his Frodo, but never had he felt it as keenly as when they reached the Gray Havens. Sam heard the roar and hiss of waves before they rounded a bend and the infinite rolling silver spread before them. He watched Frodo. When Frodo first saw the sea, he relaxed, as if he had been searching for something in a dream and had found it at last.

Ohhh, I love that last line. Sam would definitely have perceived this, and it would have brought him peace, I think.

How bittersweet for Sam, to know that his beloved Mr. Frodo had found peace, but that it would mean leaving Sam behind.

You understand this part of Frodo's journey so well. An achiness but somehow hopeful too.

So poignant and powerful - wonderful.
