A Frodo bath!fic :-)...
Faramir leaned over the tub. He saw only the hobbit’s pale face surrounded by wet curls, bruised knees, and furry feet sticking out of the bubbles. “Is it warm enough or shall I heat more?”
Frodo’s eyes were closed, a content smile on his lips, but he did not answer. Eowyn, who had taken charge of Frodo’s care, had bid Faramir help Frodo with his bath, only because she believed the hobbit would feel more comfortable if a lady were not watching him in naught but his skin. Faramir had gladly accepted, but he felt incapable of doing honor to the Ringbearer and of atoning for the rough treatment Frodo had endured as a prisoner of Gondor.
Only when he had sprinkled the white crystals in the water and they had formed into mounds of fluffy bubbles was he at last rewarded by open joy in Frodo’s eyes.
“Frodo?” Faramir reached inside the bubbles to squeeze Frodo’s slick shoulder. When the hobbit’s eyes flew open, Faramir released his tense breath. “Ah…I am sorry. I thought -”
Frodo sat up, and the furry feet disappeared. Translucent bubbles dribbled over his shoulders and revealed an ugly white scar on the left one. “Faramir, would you scrub my back please?”
“Gladly.”
Faramir dipped a cloth in the water and rubbed Frodo’s back, careful to avoid pressure on the jagged whip scars. He avoided the red and swollen knot at the back of Frodo’s neck and swallowed his rage – he yearned to twist the necks of those responsible for bringing Frodo to such harm.
“Thank you.” Frodo leaned against the rim of the tub. “This is wonderful.”
“My mother…it was she who sent for these crystals from her people by the sea.”
“Then this is special indeed.”
“They have been put to good use.”

Date: 2003-12-26 07:05 pm (UTC)This was so wonderful, it's making me cry :-) I really liked the bath crystals and the bruises on Frodo's knees. Because he would have them, wouldn't he? Poor hobbit.

"It is a large tub, and there's plenty of room. But you'd best remove all your fine clothes first."
Oh, right, no slash at all here... :)
