Frodo could not bear to meet those hazel eyes, which had long been soft with longing but which were now bitter. He longed to go to Boromir, to wrap his arms around the Man’s solid neck and allow himself to be caressed and kissed. But too long had passed in sullen silence since Frodo had last refused Boromir with no explanation. Pain had turned to harshness and…something else, dark and frightening. The Ring grew on his lover’s mind, eating at the generous heart.
If Boromir could fall, who then was next?

Date: 2004-01-11 09:17 pm (UTC)I like the idea of Boromir seen as the noble conflicted man rather than the corruptible villain - it makes his fall more poignant and more painful for Frodo.
