And for [livejournal.com profile] shirebound...

A tiny finger traced the lump, all that remained of a finger brutally bit off at the rim of Mount Doom. Frodo tensed slightly as curious blue eyes met his.

“What happened to your finger?”

Ellohir was far too young. He was snuggled under his soft covers, a glass of warm milk on his bedside.

“Why, when I went to the market to buy you, sweet Ellohir, that was the price. A little boy costs one finger these days, you know.”

Ellohir giggled. “You didn’t buy me at the market! Where did I come from?”

Frodo smiled smugly. “Ask Aragorn.”

This is adorable! Clever Frodo immediately deflected Ellohir's question, which probably won't come up again for years. (And of course you have someone snuggled under a blanket, just for me. Sigh.)

Thanks, Claudia!

Yep, the blankets were for you! And yes, clever little Frood... :-) Thanks, Shirebound.

LOL!! Oh, that's hilarious... :) Typical parental response, there. :p How sweet.

So sweet. I love your TLTW universe.

And I suppose, in a way, the loss of his finger was part of the price for Ellohir for without the ring Frodo would never have met Aragorn.

That was very sweet though somewhat cowardly of Frodo :-) Do you suppose Ellohir will be looking at markets differently when they go shopping, even though it didn't sound like he believed? I rather like the idea of Ellohir going off to the market with them and looking for the baby stall :-) Heh, and then he has a tantrum, LOL!

Great drabble, so realistic.

heh. Good idea! I think I should add a little paragraph in Ellohir's POV in the tantrum segment of him looking for the babies, even though you're right--he didn't much believe Frodo. Though you know the poor child has to be so confused....

Hee hee, this reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes and all the silly answers Calvin's dad would give him. If Frodo doesn't watch out he'll have a Middle Earth Calvin on his hands.

Ah, the last line was great... either because Frodo doesn't really know or because he definitely doesn't want to explain the birds and bees!

Heh. I think Frodo's just getting revenge on Aragorn for some petty thing or other :-D Thanks, Lily!
