“Your pains are quite far apart.” Aragorn adjusted pillows behind Frodo’s back and head, allowing the hobbit to lean comfortably against the headboard. Frodo closed his eyes, and fear clutched Aragorn’s heart to note the dark circles beneath them.
“It’s not bad…in between the pains, that is,” Frodo said. “I even feel a little hungry.”
Aragorn lifted Frodo’s nightshirt, revealing hard, round belly. Placing his calloused hands on the smooth, stretched skin, he massaged. His hands roamed up and down and over the length of the belly, rubbing, soothing. Frodo closed his eyes again in utter contentment. “Aragorn…”
“Rest, sweetheart.”
