May. 29th, 2003 06:21 pmOkay, I had to be the first....
FPS wing!fic...interspecies FPS wing!fic (duh).
Frodo lay on the satin coverlet, his good wing spread lazily over Aragorn’s side of the bed, the other hunched into his shoulder, trembling, throbbing. He should not have tried to fly so high, not this time.
“Sweetheart,” Aragorn said softly, crawling toward him, careful not to kneel on Frodo’s spread out wing. He tilted Frodo’s chin to face him. “Let me check your wing. You hit that pillar hard.”
“It does hurt,” Frodo said, rolling into a sitting position. He tucked his good wing in, and sapphire and frosty white feathers scattered everywhere.
Aragorn’s hands probed and massaged Frodo’s hurt wing, looking for broken bones. Finally, he smiled. “My heart is much lighter. Nothing is broken -- just bruising.”
Frodo’s uninjured wing curled around Aragorn’s shoulders.
“For the life of me, Frodo,” Aragorn said with a frustrated sigh. “These pieces are too small for my fingers!” He chuckled a little. “It is the dwarves’ revenge on the rest of the Free Peoples to design toys utterly impossible!”
“Ellohir will be here soon.” Frodo looked nervously at the door.
“Do you not think that you should do this?” Aragorn asked. “Your fingers are much smaller.”
“It is your birthday.”
“Yes,” Aragorn said, his eyebrows lifted. “And there is a celebration feast in my honor that I should be preparing for.” He laughed. “Instead, I prepare a mathom.”

(Secret whisper - I've been waiting biting my nails, er, patiently for more "Lantern Gift." Can't complain, cause you've been ablaze with writing lately!)
A fan
Re:
Date: 2003-05-29 04:58 pm (UTC)You know, I never abandon a writing project and I really have been wanting to get back to Lantern Gift. My muses have just been going out of control wild the last few weeks!

Date: 2003-05-29 05:06 pm (UTC)I have always been amazed at how you carry so MANY stories with you over time, yet never lose the feel or the rhythm of the story no matter how long before you post again. And the quality never seems to suffer. I didn't fear for Lantern Gift, just missing it cos i luv Frood SO MUCH111...
And you are the reason I found the LiveJournal community. I followed you over from fanfic.net and discovered your friends list and have lurked happily ever since. But Az found me and got me a LJ of my own. So now I can be a Friend.

Aragorn walked into the bedroom and stopped, frowning. "Frodo?"
The hobbit turned around started, nearly dropping his glass on the floor. "Aragorn! I'm sorry, I didn't hear you . . . I've been enjoying a little nightcap."
"Are you drinking the chicken blood *again*? I thought we agreed that wasn't good for the baby . . . allow me to send one of my men to procure some cow's blood for you. It's much more nourishing." Smiling, Aragorn walked up behind his lover and rubbed Frodo's shoulders as the hobbit drained his glass, turning to smile at Aragorn with red-stained little pointed teeth.
"It was delicious, Aragorn, truly. Now, did I hear you drawing a hot bath?"
"You did, indeed. Here." Taking the empty glass, the king set it aside and felt Frodo's forehead. "You still feel a bit feverish. Let us get you into bed as soon as possible."
Frodo stook awkwardly, struggling to keep his balance between his heavily-pregnant belly and the large iridescent blue wings that unfolded slowly from his back. "Yes, getting to bed will be quite nice . . . it's difficult to be with child, molting, feeling the pain of my Nazgul wound, and recovering from the flu all at the same time."
His lover nodded, eyes sympathetic. "Indeed."

Date: 2003-06-01 07:17 pm (UTC)You could leave it open-ended if you wanted---Vik could ask him to stay with him and we'd not know Frodo's answer, or you could have Frodo stay with him and not go back to the Shire.
Or will Aragorn have him?
Oh, you cannot *imagine* how I'm dying for your next one. I hope we have lots of pregnant Frodo there... is it going to be Aragorn's baby, or a bad ruffian's? Or maybe Frodo will have no *idea* who the father is... oooo... get shivers thinking about the jail part.

Date: 2003-05-29 07:50 pm (UTC)And the TLTW just goes to show that it doesn't matter what universe you live in. Toy makers exist to torture parents!
Re:
Date: 2003-05-30 05:15 am (UTC)Heh. Yep about the toy makers (even though I do not have children, I have friends that do)
