Too Long to Wait: Bouncing Kittens
Mar. 27th, 2011 07:43 pmOkay, this is a little early, but I may be half asleep tomorrow morning before work!
Happy Birthday to the Fluff Queen, my dear
*bows* Seriously, I hope you and Pippin have a fantabulous day and that you take a break from work and do something wonderful for yourself as you deserve! **hugs**
As is the tradition, I have written you a very fluffy Too Long to Wait vignette (this is a triple drabble)
In his dream, Ellohir chased baby bunnies down a green hill shaded by apple trees. Other boys and girls his age giggled and cheered him on. The children in this cheery land were closer to his size than the husky boys with whom he played in the Citadel and their bare feet were covered with thick hair. Hobbits! He must be in the Shire, just as he had always dreamed. The joyful thought swept through him, startling him so that he lost his footing. He rolled the rest of the way down the hill. When he stopped rolling, he lay perfectly still, dizzy and giddy with joy. Something soft and furry jumped on him. Then another. Then yet two others. Four baby bunnies bounced on him. Ellohir giggled with delight, and the sound of his laughter woke him up.
He was not in the Shire. He was in his own boat-shaped bed in the living quarters he shared with Frodo and Aragorn in the Citadel. No baby bunnies jumped on him, but rather four tiny kittens. The kittens from Mouse’s litter had recently opened their eyes for the first time and thus had discovered that Ellohir’s whole room, especially the bed, was far more interesting than their safe corner in the laundry basket that Ellohir and Frodo had made for Mouse when the kittens were first born. Mouse lay sleepy but watchful at the foot of the bed as her kittens bounced and frolicked.
“What is so funny?” Frodo peered inside Ellohir’s room, but he nodded when he noticed the kittens. “Ah, I see.”
“Did you ever chase baby bunnies in the Shire?” Ellohir asked.
Frodo smiled in puzzlement. “Baby bunnies? I suppose I did. Come, Ellohir! I shall help you make a string toy that these kittens will love!”
Happy Birthday to the Fluff Queen, my dear

Date: 2011-03-28 01:00 am (UTC)I love it when you post for this verse. Just love it.
And I love the thought of Ellohir dreaming of bunnies and of being in the Shire. If Frodo doesn't take him there very soon, so that he truly can roll down hills with other child hobbits, I will be most put out!
I am sure Shirebound will love this! It's a great gift!

Date: 2011-03-28 01:12 am (UTC)I'm taking a day off work tomorrow to RELAX and snuggle with my puppy. It'll make the rest of the work-week horrendous, but I really need to enjoy my birthday. Thank you for starting it off in such a delightful way.
Thank you, my dear friend. ♥ ♥

Date: 2011-03-28 01:45 am (UTC)And I'm SO glad you're taking tomorrow off! I rarely can do that on my birthday (at least not the last few years!). I think one of the best birthdays I had was that time when I went to San Diego about four years ago! :) (If S is reading this, she can see that WHEE!)
I hope you have a marvelous day tomorrow!
