Summary: Aragorn knows he must let go.
Aragorn gazed upon Frodo who rested in a chair on the terrace wrapped in blankets, pale as a ghost. It was early October, and even as far south as Gondor, the morning sun lacked most of the fierceness it had in summer.
Frodo looked gaunt, but his left cheek had swollen from the injury acquired when he had fainted on the stairs.
He’s not getting better. I’ve not healed him.
The knowledge pierced Aragorn’s heart – and yet it made his path easier. Arwen had given Frodo the gem and her passage across the sea.
Aragorn could let him go.
