Message from Shirebound

Hi, all,

I just got a call from shirebound. Apparently there's been a massive blackout of power in the San Diego area! She wanted me to post and let everyone know that she's fine and that gamgeefest also checked in to her via text and is fine! But she (shirebound) might not be able to be online or check in for a few days! She will post as soon as power comes back on!

I guess S. is out of town, so I don't need to shout out to her (but I will anyway, hi!)

Nobody seems to know exactly what's going on, but it sounds sort of hardcore. Geesh!

Hope everyone out there stays very safe! I know we all depend so much on electricity and internetz.

I guess there was a main transmission line that went out in AZ. How awful of those areas effected, esp with the terrible hot weather in parts of AZ and CA. Hope they get it fixed quickly for all.

powersubstation in Az. Blackout in Arizona and California and crossed the border in Mexico. Just had a quick google.

Yikes! D: Yeah, being without power in the heat would be awful. I haven't had air conditioning during the last heat wavelet here, but I DID have running fans! I can't imagine not having had those!

I'm glad all is well with Shirebound and Gamgeefest! I read that the power will be out until tomorrow. It's so hot there- I hope they won't be too uncomfortable!

Yep, it seems they got it back! I would have been SO uncomfortable with the lack of power, not just for the heat relief but because of all the crime that could happen in the dark and without alarm systems working, etc...

What happened is an employee of the SD electric system was replacing a funky part and it somehow caused a cascade effect that took out power for hundreds of miles. News reports said power probably won't come back all the way until sometime tomorrow.

I thought of shirebound when I heard about it. Glad to hear she's okay.

That's dreadful that they are out of power but it's very good to know that both Shirebound and Gamgeefest are ok. I hope everyone else it too. I also hope their weather has cooled off a bit like ours here has. Thanks for keeping us posted on this.

Thank you so much for doing this! Our power came back sometime during the night. They said four million people were affected! I didn't get much sleep, but it's a regular work day so somehow I'll stay awake. I'll post something as soon as I can.
