A/N: Pure silliness
Pippin thought Shirebound would never leave the house, but she finally did, and without stopping by the doggie treat cabinet, Pippin noted with a sniff. Pippin normally hated Shirebound's boring meeting days at the office, but on this day, she fairly bristled with excitement. She sniffed the couch until she found it, the one couch cushion with the secret that must be kept always. Now that Shirebound worked from home, there just weren't that many opportunities to use the cushion. Pippin pawed her message on the cushion in Morse code. From a great distance, she heard the clack-clacking of kitty claws in response. Most excellent. Claudia was at work, too!
Pippin jumped on the cushion, turned around three times and wished herself away.
With a grand whoosh, she found herself far, far from San Diego, far, far from Shirebound's apartment.
But this was a dark land, a ragged land of rocks and stenches and rumbling lava. Pippin trembled and whimpered, but Helo was right there beside her. He purred, trying to comfort Pippin, although he had lowered his tail.
"Good gracious, where did we end up?" Pippin whimpered. "I don't like the look of that distant eye at all."
"We're almost there, dear," Helo said.
Pippin heard humming, and it instantly warmed her heart. It reminded her of when Shirebound sang in the shower in the morning just before she served breakfast.
Pippin and Helo rounded a bend, and there, tucked behind a boulder, lay two hobbits curled against each other.
Pippin hopped in a circle in excitement. "We found them again."
"Yes," Helo said, "And they need us more than ever."
"Sam," Frodo said. "Please don't stop."
"I can't hardly muster the heart to sing in this dark land," Sam said. "It's no use."
"Then come. We'll keep each other warm this night."
Before long, the two hobbits had fallen into an uneasy sleep. Helo led the way to the hobbits. He curled next to Frodo and purred until Frodo smiled in his sleep. Pippin snuggled on Sam, licking his hand with gentle affection. The hobbits stopped their trembling and had the best sleep they had experienced since entering Mordor.

"Pippin! I'm home!" Shirebound called.
Pippin greeted her with great exuberance.
"I see you've pushed the cushions around again, you silly doggie," Shirebound said. "Come on, let's go for a walk."
Hobbits were awesome, Pippin thought, but nothing on earth or middle-earth beat a walk!
