"Why did you do it?" Faramir growled, crawling across the bed where Frodo was reading under the covers. He flung Frodo's book aside and ripped Frodo's shirt off his shoulders. A few buttons popped from the hobbit's fancy brocaded vest, the one he had worn to Aragorn's latest feast.

"You don't love her," Frodo said, breathless. "You're only marrying her out of pity." He had never seen Faramir angry. Stern, yes, but always in control.

"And so you felt it was your right to tell her about us?" Faramir asked, flipping Frodo over onto his stomach and yanking his trousers down to his knees so that his suspenders snapped loose. He gripped Frodo's small wrists with crushing force.

"You don't love Eowyn," Frodo said. "She deserves better. You deserve--"

Faramir entered him with unmerciful fire, pounding into him. This was no longer the gentle, scholarly Captain of Gondor Frodo had fallen in love with. This was his brother filled with Ring lust, his father on the fiery brink of madness. These were the great crushing waves that swallowed Numenor.

"Mine," he grunted.

When it was over, they lay together, side by side, Faramir spent, his anger evaporated, and Frodo too bruised to move.

"I've never seen that part of you," Frodo said, still catching his breath.

"Whosoever I marry," Faramir said. "You are first in my heart, Frodo Baggins. Never forget it. But I will marry whom I please. Is that understood?"

Frodo lifted his chin. "And if you marry, I shall return to the Shire. Is that understood?"

"Stubborn hobbit."

Frodo smiled. He had won this round, however much Faramir had taken from him that night.
