Too Long to Wait: Caramel
Title: Too Long to Wait: Caramel
Rating: G
Pairing: Frodo/Aragorn (implied only)
Warning: former mpreg implied
Summary: Ellohir helps Frodo make Yuletide caramel
“Have a care and do not get too close, Ellohir.” Ever since Aragorn had commanded a tiny kitchen built inside their chambers, Frodo and Ellohir had been baking up a storm of Yuletide delights – breads, fruitcakes, biscuits with sugar frosting. Everything, from the counters to the stove to the cabinets had been built for Frodo’s height, since Aragorn rarely, if ever, longed to cook for himself. Ellohir had to stand on a stepstool to watch. Normally Frodo let him do all the stirring, but not this time.
“I want to watch it turn to caramel.”
Frodo wore a beloved cooking apron, one Bilbo had left behind in Bag End. Sam had sent it to him five years ago, just after Ellohir had been born. “The splatter can burn you badly.”
“Okay,” Ellohir said, but he leaned in close to the pot again, where sugar caramelized, crackling and browning.
Later, they would spend hours put the caramel into little bags to give to the guards of the Citadel, a rare and special treat for most of them. Outside, a rare Southern snow fell.

Awwww. And I just love the idea of surprising the guards with homemade treats.
